My Story
I was raised in a small suburban town in Texas with my parents and younger sister. I was on track to graduate high school near the top of my class with a full scholarship. During high school, I began experimenting with marijuana, which eventually led to a deeper curiosity for harder substances. At the peak my addiction, I witnessed the tragic consequences of people dying around me.
Despite my attempts to quit on my own, the withdrawal pain was unbearable, but my family supported me and helped me seek assistance I needed.
In rehab, I learned that no program is alike; some focus on physical distractions while others delve into the science of addiction, I was eager to understand addiction as a disease. I could see in group therapy that everyone had different influences and struggles that brought them to the room. No ones recovery looks like the person next to them, we are all unique individuals on how we get to the point of recovery. Recovery is a personal journey, and Dragonfly Wings embraces this philosophy in our core mission.
I believe that God gives us only what we can handle. While it may be hard to see during difficult times, God has a greater purpose for us and this is mine, Dragonfly Wings.
In May 2025, I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in counseling, and I am currently pursuing my master's in clinical psychology. As part of my P.H.D. plan I will pursue writing a intake manual that is unique to the individual seeking help.
